About KRNL
The core your business runs on
KRNL Technology runs the layer underneath NYC's creative businesses, the systems, the security, the setup, so the work people actually see gets made without technology getting in the way.
Who we're for
Built for the businesses behind the work New York sees
If you run a creative business in this city, your technology problems don't look like an accounting firm's. Your team doubles for a production and shrinks the month after. Freelancers start Monday and need to be working by ten. The pitch is on a Mac, the campaign lives in Google Drive, and the install happens at 4am whether the file server cooperates or not. That's the business we built KRNL for. Not adapted for. Built for.
Most IT providers serve the agencies and stop there. We support the whole chain that gets work made and out into the city, from the studios and rental houses to the fabrication shops that build the physical install.

The name
The core of every system
The kernel is the core of an operating system. It sits between the software people use and the hardware underneath, managing everything essential so the whole system runs as one. Every app, every file, every keystroke works because the kernel is underneath, making it work.
It's exactly how we think IT should run for a creative business: the layer under everything critical, doing the essential work out of sight, so your team can just create. We took the name and we run the company by it.

Twenty years inside the creative industry
The instincts behind KRNL came from twenty years inside your world, running IT for creative and production businesses where the deadline is the deadline and the technology either keeps up or gets in the way. Launches, installs, shoots, pitches. We didn't pick this niche from the outside. We came out of it.
It started earlier than that, honestly. Marc was the kid people came to when the computer did something bewildering, and the feeling never wore off: there's nothing better than taking a problem someone sees as insurmountable and quietly making it small.
How we work
Undoing IT's reputation, one answer at a time
Everyone has an IT story: slow, rude, a different stranger every time, jargon instead of answers. We run KRNL to be the opposite of that story. You get people who already know you and your setup, answers in plain language, and honest advice about what's worth doing, including when the honest advice is to do nothing. We fit how you work, we don't move you off the tools you love, and when the pressure is on, we pick up.
